Burn Your TV is a free events-discovery site. This policy explains the information we collect when you use burnyourtv.com and what we do with it.

Information you give us

If you sign up or sign in, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name. We use your email to send a magic sign-in link, service messages, and Burn Your TV emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any such email.

If you choose interests, follow venues, or save events, we store those choices so your feed and plans can be restored. Some preferences and saved items may also be stored in your browser.

Visitor identification and analytics

We use Retention.com technology, including its ge.js tag, to help identify some visitors and associate website activity with an email address. When Retention.com identifies a visitor who is not already a Burn Your TV subscriber, we may send an invitation to create an account. Retention.com acts as a service provider for this purpose.

Our weekly email contains a small image and tracked links that tell us whether it was opened and whether a link was clicked. We record that against a one-way identifier rather than your email address, and use it to run subscriber giveaways and to learn which emails people find useful.

We also use Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel, and Vercel Speed Insights to measure visits, page use, signups, and site performance. These services may use cookies, pixels, device identifiers, IP addresses, or similar technologies. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy policies.

How we use information

• Provide the event feed, account access, saved events, follows, and preferences.
• Send requested service emails and relevant Burn Your TV updates.
• Understand site use, measure advertising, improve the product, and prevent abuse.

Sharing

We do not sell tickets or take bookings, and we do not sell your subscriber list. We share information with service providers only as needed to run and measure the site, send email, provide sign-in, identify visitors, and host the service. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the site and its users.

Choices and deletion

You can block or delete cookies and site storage through your browser, but parts of the site may stop working as expected. You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time. To ask what information we have about you, correct it, or request deletion, email shawn.christian1@gmail.com.

Data retention and security

We keep information only as long as it is useful for the purposes above or required by law. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee complete security.

Children and changes

Burn Your TV is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above shows the latest version.
